Midgets, Jahner again take 2nd at Turtle Mountain Invitational

ROLLA — Always the runner-up, never the medalist.

ROLLA — Always the runner-up, never the medalist.

That seems to be the story of Rachel Jahner and the Dickinson girls golf team’s season. Jahner and the Midgets again both placed second Monday at the Turtle Mountain Invitational at the Rolla Country Club.

Bismarck Century won the tournament with a 370 team score. Dickinson had a 405.

Century’s Lindsey Reed shot an 83 to win on the par-36 nine-hole course that the teams played twice. Jahner had an 84.

“We just didn’t have the greatest day today, but hopefully we’ll practice and practice this week and we’ll get back on track for regionals,” Dickinson coach Sara Berglund said.

It was the fourth straight tournament in second place for Jahner and the fifth in a row for the Midgets, who have finished behind Century each time.

“It’s really close,” Berglund said. “Today played tough though. It was pretty chilly out there. The course was tough. Your placement and everything is really important.”
