DSU’s Pelton, Rixen win in River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The Dickinson State rodeo team had a handle on the roughstock competition last weekend at the Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo, the first Great Plains Region event of the season.

Jordan Pelton won the bareback riding with a two-head average of 153 and Dalton Rixen won the saddle bronc riding with a 72-point ride. Pelton is a senior from Halliday and Rixen is a freshman from Richardton.

Elsewhere, Cody Hilzendeger was second in the tie-down roping (26.1 seconds on two head).

The DSU took third while the women were fourth. South Dakota State topped the men’s standings while Iowa Central Community College won the women’s team competition.

Bobbi Grann was fourth in the goat tying average at 14.7 seconds and Skye Schaper was fifth in the breakaway roping average at 33.65.
