DSU men's, women's rodeo teams each win during Iowa trip

The Dickinson State men’s and women’s rodeo team each picked up team victories last week.

The Blue Hawk men won the Triton Roundup, hosted by Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Oct. 4 and 5.

The Blue Hawk women then won the Cyclone Stampede hosted by Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, on Oct. 6 and 7. They did that after picking up no points in Fort Dodge.

At the Triton Roundup, Jordan Pelton and Blake Smith were second and third, respectively, in the bareback riding and Dalton Rixen was second in the saddle bronc riding.

Cody Hilzendeger picked up all-around points after finishing third in the tie-down roping and fifth in the team roping with partner Jake Herman of Black Hills State.

At the Cyclone Stampede, Presley Hamman was second in the barrel racing average.

Bobbi Grann picked up all-around points with a third-place finish in the goat tying and a fifth-place average in the barrel racing.

Lexy Williams was fifth in the goat tying. She took fourth in Fort Dodge, where she was also seventh in the breakaway roping.

DSU’s men took third in Ames, with Rixen winning the bronc riding and Pelton taking second in the bareback riding.

Jake Bauman was second in the team roping along with his partner River Voigt, a Killdeer native now at Black Hills State.

Cameron Decouteau chalked up one bull ride, a 73, to finish third. Dillon Wickum was fourth in the tie-down roping.
