Letter: National Rifle Association endorses Shirley Meyer
Anna Kopperud, North Dakota state liaison for the National Rifle Association, announced that Rep. Shirley Meyer (District 36) has received their highly coveted endorsement and an “A” rating based upon her voting record while serving in the North Dakota State Legislature.
Kopperud stated, “Our members will interpret Rep. Meyer’s ‘A’ rating and endorsement as being a solid pro-gun/pro-hunting candidate who is an advocate for the right to keep and bear arms.
Meyer, who grew up ranching in Dunn County, has been a strong supporter of not only the Second Amendment, but also of sportsmen’s rights in North Dakota.
Meyer accepted the endorsement, saying, “Hunting and fishing is a valued tradition and has become an economic tool for many businesses. During my legislative career I have worked to protect and strengthen the rights of law-abiding Americans to own guns for both recreation and personal security.”
