DSU’s Decoteau caps fall season with bull riding win

FARGO — Camren Decoteau was the long roughstock event winner for the Dickinson State rodeo team during the two-day Bison Stampede, hosted by North Dakota State last Friday and Saturday.

The freshman from Halliday had a two-round average of 159 to win the bull riding. He was the lone bull rider to hang on both days.

In the team roping, DSU’s Eliot Hight teamed up with Black Hills State’s Ty Clarke to win the average.

Bobbi Grann was the lone placer in the women’s events, taking second in the all-around with a third-place run in the goat tying (13.2-second average), fifth place in the barrel racing (12.90 on one run) and sixth in the breakaway roping (7.2 seconds on two).

It was the final Great Plains Region rodeo of the fall season. Both the DSU men’s and women’s teams finished third in the standings.

The Blue Hawk men go into the spring second in the Great Plains Region team standings. The women are fourth.

Decoteau is tied for the lead in the bull riding and Jordan Pelton leads the bareback riding. Hight is tied for the lead as a team roping heeler.

Cody Hilzendeger is second in the tie-down roping and Bobbi Grann is second in goat tying.
