MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Officials say the Mandan landfill has been closed due to a fire.

The landfill caught fire Thursday night.
Public works director Jeff Wright says a "hot spot" in the garbage was spread by wind. He says crews had the fire under control by Friday morning, but the city announced that the landfill will be closed until Monday morning.
