Letter: Voting yes and passing Measure 5 would not help animals

I signed the petition to put Measure 5 on the ballot not understanding the political process.

I realized there were things missing, but I got caught up in the emotion; that we needed some type of law to help animals.

Well, this measure is too vaguely written. It covers only three species. They are not the only ones that need protection.

I have been fostering for Oreo's Animal Rescue for many years. Our organization has rescued and rehabilitated many cases of abuse, abandonment, starvation, etc.

This all needs to be clearly stated in the measure or we are not going to help animals. We have waited too long!

Why pass Measure 5 only to wait to change it seven years later while more forms of abuse against animals in our state get vaguely passed by because Measure 5 doesn’t cover it.
