District 13 Volleyball Tournament: Bucs, Wildfire to meet for title
HETTINGER — Channa Clarin hammered down 15 kills and eight blocks and got a lot of help as No. 1 seed Beach moved on to the District 13 championship match, defeating a weary Heart River team Monday night at Roberts-Reinke Gymnasium.

The Buccaneers picked up a 25-11, 24-26, 25-19, 25-17 victory over the weary No. 5 seed Cougars, who defeated New England in a five-set first-round match earlier in the day.
Hailee Farstveet and Cydni Stedman each had 10 kills and Bailey Waldal added eight kills for the Buccaneers, who face Mott-Regent at 7:30 p.m. today in the title match.
Desiree Johnson had nine kills to lead the Cougars while Tricia Romanyshyn added seven kills and four blocks and Karli Northrop had seven kills, three aces and 17 digs.
Chantel Fulton picked up Beach with 38 assists and Jada Mattson led the Cougars with 25 assists.
Heart River plays Bowman County at 6 p.m. in a Region 7 Tournament qualifying match.

Marah Frriez had five kills and three blocks while Abby Honeyman and Naomi Meier each added four kills. Alyssa Olin had 22 assists and three aces.
Becca Oase had eight kills, three blocks and three aces to lead the Night Hawks.
Hettinger-Scranton faces New England at 4:30 p.m. today in a region-qualifier match.

Northrop had 11 kills, four aces and 19 digs and Johnson added 10 kills as Heart River won a dandy against No. 4 seed New England 25-19, 17-25, 25-20, 18-20, 15-11.
Bryanna Rasch had 13 kills to lead the Tigers while Gabbi Hanson and Taylor Hewson each added 10 kills.
