WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Fargo contractor faces $21,000 in proposed penalties for a construction incident that killed a 30-year-old man.

Trevor Skarphol of Fargo was killed in May when a 28-foot steel beam fell on him while he was working on a new addition to the Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center in West Fargo.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration alleges that project contractor Lee Jones & Son Construction Co. committed three serious violations related to the erection of steel columns and the use of anchor rods.

OSHA spokesman Eric Brooks says representatives from his agency and from the contractor were slated to meet in Bismarck on Tuesday to discuss the findings.
