Mack, Dressler Wendy’s Heisman state finalists

Dickinson High senior Austin Mack and Richardton-Taylor senior Kasey Dressler are state finalists for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award it was announced on Tuesday.

Dickinson High senior Austin Mack and Richardton-Taylor senior Kasey Dressler are state finalists for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award it was announced on Tuesday.

Mack helped Bismarck Century win back-to-back Class A state soccer titles. He also competes in basketball and track and field.

Dressler competes in football, basketball and rodeo for Richardton-Taylor.

The Wendy’s High School Heisman Award recognizes the spirit of hard work and dedication through outstanding achievements in athletics, academics and community and school leadership.

The award has 20 of North Dakota’s top scholar-athletes with 10 males and 10 females. Ashley Bentz of Grant County was named on the girls side.

On Monday, one male and one female finalist from each state will be named state winners. Of those state winners, 12 will be chose as national finalists and will compete for the national title in New York City on Dec. 7.

The national finalists will be feature during a televised ceremony on ESPN networks and will receive gold medals and $2,000 awards for their high schools. One male and one female national winner will receive a crystal Wendy’s High School Heisman trophy, $500 gift certificate to Wendy’s and Wendy’s will donate $10,000 to each winner’s respective high school.
