FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A Fargo police detective was suspended for two days without pay in August for posting a photo on Facebook of cash seized in a drug investigation.

The Forum newspaper reports that narcotics investigator Bret Witte took the photo on June 11 with his personal cellphone and posted it on his personal Facebook site with the caption, "Cash seizure from search warrant today. Crime didn't pay today did it buddy?"

Witte removed the photo when ordered to but was suspended for disseminating images of official police business. He wrote a letter of apology to Police Chief Keith Ternes, saying his intent was “to reflect a positive accomplishment and nothing more.”
