Bentz, Mertens named ND’s High School Heisman winners
Grant County senior Ashley Bentz and Devils Lake senior Nathan Mertens were honored as North Dakota’s state winners for the 2012 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award on Monday.
Grant County senior Ashley Bentz and Devils Lake senior Nathan Mertens were honored as North Dakota’s state winners for the 2012 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award on Monday.
Among North Dakota’s finalists Mertens beat out for the boys honor were Dickinson High senior Austin Mack and Richardton-Taylor senior Kasey Dressler.
Awarded in conjunction with the collegiate Heisman, the Wendy’s High School Heisman, now in its 19th year, has set the standard for high school student-athletes and gained tremendous prestige among universities and colleges nationwide.
