Heitkamp gets 50.3 percent of North Dakota’s vote; Berg to make announcement this afternoon

With U.S. Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp pulling in 50.3 percent of North Dakota’s vote and Rick Berg at 49.3 percent, a recount can be requested, according to the North Dakota Voting Information and Central Election Systems website.

Berg will make an announcement regarding the status of the election at about 12:45 this afternoon, according to a press release.

According to the site, 319,908 people voted in the contest, including 1,398 people voting for write-ins.

In Stark County, 64 percent of voters chose Berg. And in Dunn County, 63 percent chose Berg, according to the site.
