Dickinson State postpones weekend basketball doubleheaders

Dickinson State has postponed its men’s and women’s basketball games that were scheduled for this weekend.

The Blue Hawks were scheduled to play doubleheaders against South Dakota Mines and Oglala Lakota College on Friday and Saturday, respectively, at Scott Gymnasium.

Blue Hawk men’s basketball coach Ty Orton said Friday afternoon that the schools are working on rescheduling both games.

Jason Henry, the head men’s basketball coach at South Dakota Mines, said in a text message that weather conditions were causing the team’s bus to begin taking travel precautions as the team headed north on South Dakota Highway 79.

Henry said the team bus turned around near Newell, S.D., which is about 25 miles north of Sturgis, S.D. South Dakota Mines is located in Rapid City, S.D.

Oglala Lakota College is located in Kyle, S.D.
