DSU volleyball team loses to Lewis-Clark State, bows out of Frontier Conference Tournament

BUTTE, Mont. — The Dickinson State volleyball team’s season ended Friday afternoon — but not without a fight.

The No. 9 seed Blue Hawks stole a set from No. 1 seed Lewis-Clark State before bowing out of the Frontier Conference Tournament in the quarterfinals at Montana Tech’s Kelvin Sampson Court.

The Warriors beat the Blue Hawks 25-11, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21.

Lewis-Clark had a .237 team attacking percentage, getting big days out of Niukra Toribio and Keisha Luebbert-Kennedy. They had 22 and 15 kills, respectively.

DSU was led by its trio of seniors Sarah Zeibig had 11 kills while Shaunda Dvorak, a Dickinson native, had six kills, and three blocks. Ebony Sanders had five kills and two blocks.

Junior Melissa Avila had 16 assists, 11 digs, two kills and two blocks.

The Blue Hawks finished the season with a 4-23 record and won their first-ever match against a Frontier opponent on Thursday with a 3-2 victory over Montana Western in the tournament’s play-in match.
