The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office received approximately 432 calls for general information about such things as what to do with a neighborhood dispute, road conditions, truck permits, truck routes, bad drivers, road reports and suspicious activity.

Approximately 92 additional calls for service were received that required a deputy to make contact with a person requesting assistance. Out of the 92 calls for service, 28 calls resulted in the call being forwarded to the Dunn County State’s Attorney for review and possible complaints. The type of reports forwarded to the State’s Attorney fall in the category of burglary, theft, assault, domestic violence, harassment, and violation of protection or disorderly conduct orders.

Primary types of calls for the month of October are as follows:

- 4 — Calls for cattle or horses at large

- 2 — Calls about horse owners not feeding their horses

- 2 — Minors arrested for possession of alcohol

- 1 — Arrest for contributing alcohol to minors

- 2 — Calls of individual with fires in violation of the fire ban

- 5 — Calls were received in reference to domestic violence

- 2 — Drug arrests were made involving marijuana

- 17 — Calls (approximately) for speeding, reckless or road-raged drivers were received from witnesses calling 911 or the office directly

- 2 — Trespassing reports were investigated

- 3 — Assault reports were taken

- 1 — Call of night time poaching of wildlife

- 2 — Oil well fire calls were responded to

- 3 — Mental health cases were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital emergency room

Traffic calls were as follows:

- 165 — Traffic citations were written for such things as stop sign, speeding, careless and reckless driving along with driving under the

influence and actual physical control

- 28 — Traffic accident reports were written with damage more than $1,000.

- 4 — Driving under the influence arrests were made

Traffic and criminal investigations are only a part of what the sheriff’s office does. It also provides paper service to the public. This paper service covers such things as forfeitures, arrest warrants, writs, subpoenas, orders to show cause and child support documents.
