Letter: Support Production Tax Credit for health of ND

It is well known worldwide that burning fossil fuels contributes to asthma, lung disease and other serious respiratory ailments.

As a volunteer member of the American Lung Association in North Dakota’s Leadership Board, I’m in strong support of the wind energy Production Tax Credit and I commend our congressional delegation for expressing support for our state’s growing clean wind energy industry.

I urge them to extend the PTC and help protect hundreds of well-paying jobs in North Dakota.

Fossil fuels are a subsidized industry; providing fair incentives for the wind industry levels the playing field and encourages clean energy development. The PTC does this.

Our congressmen are correct in saying we need to further diversify our energy portfolio and become better stewards of our land. I like the forward-thinking of our leaders and their efforts to protect our lungs and health.
