Kindred sweeps Flasher in Class B quarterfinals

On Wednesday, Schmit signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at the University of North Dakota. On Thursday, the senior dominated in the quarterfinals of the Class B state volleyball tournament. She had 22 kills and 11 aces as Kindred swept Flasher 25-11, 25-13, 25-15.

Micaela Meyer led Flasher with eight kills. The Bulldogs play Dickinson Trinity at 11 a.m. today in the consolation semifinals. Kindred faces Linton-HMB at 5 p.m. in the semifinals.

Park River/Fordville-Lankin used a big match-ending attack to rally past Ray 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-12 in the quarterfinals of the Class B high school volleyball tournament.

Kirsten Johnson finished with 19 kills, with Sadie Vold adding 14. The Aggies had a 53-32 advantage in kills, as well as a 101-60 advantage in digs.

Olivia Corcoran had 10 kills to pace Ray, which plays Minot Our Redeemer’s at 1 p.m. today in the consolation semifinals.

Century 3, Fargo Davies 1

Fargo Davies, East Region No. 4 seed, drew West Region champion Bismarck Century in the Class A state tournament quarterfinals. And on Thursday, the Patriots’ experience won out. Century swept Davies 25-10, 27-25, 25-18 at the Minot State Dome.

Hannah Larson led the Patriots (34-4) with 12 kills, six blocks and two aces. Century plays Dickinson High in the semifinals at 7 p.m. today. Jordyn Jossart finished with 10 kills.

Senior outside hitter Kali Erickson had 10 kills to lead Davies (25-12). Davies plays the loser of Fargo Shanley in the consolation semifinals at 1 p.m. today.

Century has played in the state championship match three of the last four years and won the state title in 2008.

Hadley Steffen, a 5-foot-9 North Dakota State recruit, paced the Roughriders with 25 kills and two blocks. Red River (23-9) plays West Fargo in the semifinals at 5 p.m. today.

Junior outside hitter Ashlee Hilzendeger paced the Demons (23-14) with 18 kills and nine digs. Bismarck plays Jamestown at 11 a.m. today in the consolation semifinals.

West Fargo used their potent hitting attack to score a 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 sweep over West Region No. 2-seeded Jamestown in the quarterfinals of the Class A state volleyball tournament.

Amanda Levin paced the East Region No. 3-seeded Packers (21-14) with 15 kills and two aces. Christian Bruenjes finished with 12 kills.

Jamestown (26-10) was making its first state tournament appearance since 2001. Senior middle blocker Siri Jystad totaled eight kills to lead the Blue Jays.
