Midgets, Night Hawks place 3 each at Mandan Lions Tournament

MANDAN — Three Dickinson High wrestlers and three Hettinger-Scranton wrestlers placed on Saturday at the Mandan Lions Tournament.

MANDAN — Three Dickinson High wrestlers and three Hettinger-Scranton wrestlers placed on Saturday at the Mandan Lions Tournament.

Dickinson sophomores Austin Hutzenbiler (113 pounds) and Clayton Tangen (145) each took third.

Hutzenbiler beat Brody Johnson of Sturgis, S.D., in the third-place match while Tangen beat Grand Forks Red River senior Gunar Hanevold.

Dickinson junior Devin Berger was fourth at 132, falling to Garrett Peterson of Rapid City (S.D.) Stevens in the third-place match.

Freshman Colby Steeke (182) and sophomore Brandon Ehlers (285) both took fifth for the Night Hawks. Steeke beat Sturgis freshman Payson Dirk in the fifth-place match while Ehlers defeated Aaron Beaird of Rapid City Central.

Red River’s Ryan Oster beat Hettinger-Scranton junior Denby Lueck in the 220-pound fifth place match.

Rapid City Central won the team title with 330½ points, beating Bismarck High’s 308½. Dickinson was 10th with 108½ and Hettinger-Scranton was 12th at 80.5.

Team scores: Rapid City Central 330.5, Bismarck High 308.5, Bismarck Century 231, Sturgis 224, Turtle Mountain 191, Rapid City Stevens 181.5, Fargo North 141, Mandan 136, Grand Forks Red River 132, Dickinson 108.5, Bismarck St. Mary’s 105.5, Hettinger-Scranton 80.5.
