People come to North Dakota looking for a job and many North Dakota companies are looking for workers. USC Inc. Staffing brings the two together.

The workforce building company opened the doors to its new Dickinson office this fall, which has allowed it to expand its safety training

program.

“We work everything from hotel staff to restaurants and up to oil field,” Accounts Manager Chris Bacon said. “When we get a client that comes in and is asking for things, our goal is try and help them staff it.”

The Delta, Colo.-based company has been in operation for about 15 years and has offices throughout the country, including Pennsylvania and West Virginia, as well as the North Dakota branches in Williston and Dickinson, Vice President of Operations West Vernon McCracken said.

And while the company expanded into North Dakota because of the oil boom, much of its placement is in the construction and other supporting industries, he said.

“We do tire shops, lots of construction, electrical, plumbing,”

he said.

USC Inc. Staffing had its grand opening Oct. 17 in Dickinson, Office Manager Coree Hofland said. It joined the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce then as well.

The company is well settled in and is always looking for fresh faces, Bacon said.

“The new office has been a big improvement from our old office,” he said. “It was very small and very tight.”

Much of what the company does is long-term temporary placement, the type of jobs that last a few weeks, McCracken said. It does do some day labor.

The long-term temporary positions can turn into permanent full-time jobs if employers are happy with the workers, he said.

“We really try to work towards the temp-to-hire,” he said. “We try to interview and send better-type employees to the positions that are available so that they will stick or have a long-term employment.”

USC Inc. Staffing does all of

the background checks and drug testing for potential employees,

Hofland said.

Safety classes can be scheduled at almost any time and are open to anyone, Bacon said. The company does certifications in OSHA 10, first

aid and other popular and required certifications.
