James L. Steffan

Funeral Mass for James L. Steffan, 81, of Dickinson will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating.

Funeral Mass for James L. Steffan, 81, of Dickinson will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery New Hradec.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 27, from noon to 9 p.m. with a Rosary being said at 4 p.m. at the Stevenson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Friday, one hour prior to the Mass at Queen of Peace.

Jim passed away on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center.

James L. Steffan was born Dec. 19, 1931, on the family farm northwest of New Hradec, to Vincent and Paulina (Hibl) Steffan. He attended country school, New Hradec school, then Model High in Dickinson. Jim graduated from Model High in 1947. He worked in Mott for a short time. He also worked for Bethlehem Steel in Dickinson before becoming a part owner of Parkway Ford. Jim also worked for Able Inc. for several years.

Jim and Margaret Stroh were married on Aug. 20, 1971.

Jim enjoyed gardening and yard work. He was a member of Catholic Workman and Knights of Columbus.

Jim is survived one brother, Stanley (Marlene) Steffan, Dickinson; sisters-in-law, Hattie Steffan, Georgianne Steffan and Mary Ann Steffan, all of Dickinson; brother-in-law, Robert Murphy, Dickinson, numerous stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Margaret Steffan; his parents; five sisters, Mary Novotny, Cecilia Tuhy, Hattie Haller, Dorothy (Tuhy) O’Conner and Dagmar Murphy; and three brothers, Mansvetus, Sylvin and Vince Steffan.
