Update: Official says Wibaux, Mont. oil recycling fire still burning, no longer a threat

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — An emergency official says a fire from an eastern Montana plant explosion is still burning but there is no threat of it spreading.

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — An emergency official says a fire from an eastern Montana plant explosion is still burning but there is no threat of it spreading.

Wibaux County Disaster and Emergency Services spokesman Mike Schneider says the tanker fire is burning itself out after the Saturday explosion that injured three workers.

Schneider says there is no longer a threat the fire will spread to other tanks at the Custom Carbon Processing oil recycling facility.

The fire started with an explosion as the contents of the tanker truck were pumped into a structure where three workers were installing insulation.

The conditions of the injured workers were unclear. The head of the Canadian company that owns the facility was headed there Monday.

Schneider says Occupational and Safety Health Administration investigators also are expected Monday.
