Police: Fight led to injury to Wyo. guard Martinez

CASPER, Wyo. — Laramie police say a bar fight led to the injury that has kept Wyoming senior guard Luke Martinez from playing.

Cmdr. Mitchell Cushman tells the Casper Star-Tribune that the 22-year-old Martinez was among several people involved in a fight at the Buckhorn Bar around 2:30 a.m. Dec. 30. He says no criminal charges are expected. He didn't have details on how the fight started.

Wyoming coach Larry Shyatt had said Martinez, a Bismarck High School graduate, would be out indefinitely after breaking his right ring finger in an off-campus incident, but details weren't disclosed.

Martinez was the Cowboys’ starting shooting guard.
