Elaine Maurine Hansen, 81, Mandan, formerly Ellendale and Dickinson, died, Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck.
Visitation is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, Mandan.
Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Elaine was born Sept. 28, 1931, at Belfour, to Henry and Andeline (Huso) Buelow. She was raised and educated in Guthrie and Drake, graduating in 1949 from Drake High School.
Following high school, she attended a trade school in Minneapolis, Minn., where she earned a degree as a lab technician.
On May 26, 1978, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, she married Dick Hansen. From 1978-2006 they lived in Dickinson until moving to Mandan in 2006.
Over the years she worked as a lab tech, librarian, insurance agent and medical receptionist.
She was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s, Friends of the Library, Sons of Norway, Dickinson Civil Air Patrol, Trinity Lutheran Thursday morning Bible Study, Trinity Lutheran Choir and recently, for four years was a volunteer at the North Dakota Heritage Center.
She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her great-grandchildren. She liked sewing, singing in the Trinity Lutheran Choir, and greatly enjoyed traveling over the years throughout the United States and Europe with her husband.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Maureen Rule, Albuquerque, N.M.; sons, Rick (Mona) Hansen, Fishers, Ind., Dale (Jill) Hansen, Hendersonville, Tenn.; step-daughter, Stephanie (Hendrik) Hagen, Dresden, Germany; sister, Beverly Mickelson, Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers, Roger (Grace) Buelow, Richard “Otto” (Luana) Buelow, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one-step great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen Buelow; and grandson, Evan Rule. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation, or the American Cancer Society.
