SIDNEY, Mont. — After starting the season with a 4-1 record, the Dickinson High boys hockey team fell on some tough times, losing nine of its next 10, including the last six straight.

The tough times were averted and a six-game losing skid was snapped Thursday as the Midgets rolled the Richland Rangers, a club team from Sidney, Mont., 8-0.

“Hopefully, this kind of opens up the floodgates a little bit and get things moving a more positive direction,” Dickinson head coach Tom Folske said. “We played really good periods and that’s what we need to do from here on out.”

Dickinson junior forward Alex Turcotte led the team with three goals for his first high school hat trick. Matt Pavek and Jayden Mink each supplied two goals, while Kass Dvorak added one.

The Midgets had nine different players score points with Brendin Steiner and Austin Krank each supplying a pair of assists.

“Austin Krank was back in the lineup (after suffering a concussion) and we just rolled four lines,” Folske said. “It didn’t matter if it was shorthanded, power play or full strength.”

Dickinson junior goalie Brett Schweitzer saved all nine shots he faced for the shutout.

The Midgets continue their season at home facing Oahe, S.D., for their final nonconference game of the year at 6:30 p.m. today at the Dickinson Recreation Center.
