Mandan hands Dickinson High girls 40-point defeat

MANDAN — Nothing seemed to go right for the Dickinson High girls basketball team Thursday night.

MANDAN — Nothing seemed to go right for the Dickinson High girls basketball team Thursday night.

The Midgets committed 30 turnovers and shot 29 percent from the field. Meanwhile, Mandan was on its game and cruised to a 74-34 West Region victory over Dickinson, which suffered its worst loss of the season.

McKayla Howling Wolf scored 14 points, Lexi Goldade added 13 points and five steals while Courtney Goetz had 12 points, five assists and four steals. JaeLyn Russell contributed 11 points to lead the Braves (4-6, 3-4 West).

Mandan shot 44 percent from the field and led 38-13 at halftime.

Dickinson didn’t have a player score in double figures. Shelby Stoltz came off the bench to lead the Midgets (2-6, 1-5 West) with seven points. Rachel Schroeder and Riley Cooper added six points.
