BISMARCK — Robert Hutchins led the way on both sides of the ball as No. 4-ranked Bismarck Century dispatched of Dickinson High on Thursday in a West Region boys basketball game.

Hutchins, a junior guard, had game highs of 18 points and five steals as the Patriots defeated the Midgets 69-47 at the Century High School gymnasium.

“It was ugly all the way around,” Dickinson head coach John Wilson said. “They had guys who made shots. They got open looks early on.”

Senior Jordan Krieg was the lone Dickinson player in double figures. He had team highs of 16 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Mark Erickson added seven points while juniors Luke Herauf and Levi Jordheim each scored six for the Midgets (6-5, 3-5 West).

Alex Quist scored 17 points and Timothy Wegner added 12 for the Patriots (9-3, 8-1 West), who committed just five turnovers and were playing without leading scorer Tyler Rudolph.

Dickinson has a quick turnaround, hosting Bismarck St. Mary’s at 7:30 p.m. today in a West Region game at the DHS gymnasium.

“We can’t let it bother us,” Wilson said. “We’ve got to come in ready to play tomorrow. St. Mary’s isn’t going to feel sorry for us.”
