The Bismarck girls hockey team scored its opening goal 31 seconds into the game.
The Blizzard found the back of the net 12 more times, including nine goals in the first period, en route to a 13-0 win over Dickinson.
“It’s hard (to pick yourself up),” Dickinson head coach Lauren Hansen said. “I’m not sure we ever did throughout the game.”
Bismarck held the shots-on-goal advantage 55-3 and had 34 shots in the first period. The Blizzard had 10 different players score goals.
Brianna Flynn, Kennedy Hageness and Haleigh Springan each had two goals for Bismarck.
Sage Barta and Jessie Binstock each supplied two assists and one goal.
In goal for the Midgets, Kelsey Gillen played the first period. The sophomore goaltender made 25 saves. Paige Fahlstrom, a junior goalie, allowed four goals in the final two periods.
Bismarck junior goalie Erin Clayburg stopped the three shots she faced.
Dickinson continues its season by traveling to Williston at 6 p.m. today. Hansen hopes her team learns to come out with a little bit more fire to start the game.
“This shows the girls that they have to come the minute they step on the ice,” Hansen said. “Everyone has to be focused or the team won’t function. It’s important that everyone shows up ready to play.”
