More spring turkey licenses available

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department is offering 5,930 wild turkey licenses for the spring hunt, an increase of 135 from last year.

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department is offering 5,930 wild turkey licenses for the spring hunt, an increase of 135 from last year.

The agency said the increase is the result of better turkey production.

Seven of the 22 hunting units have more spring licenses than last year. Unit 21, which is most of Hettinger and Adams counties in the southwest, is again closed due to a lack of turkeys.

Spring turkey licenses are available only to North Dakota residents. The deadline to apply for a license is Feb. 13. The season opens April 13 and runs through May 19.
