Blue Hawk women fall to Argos

GREAT FALLS, Mont. — The University of Great Falls women’s basketball team recorded their school-record 13th victory in a season Thursday night as they pulled away late in the first half and held on for an 87-69 Frontier Conference victory.

Erin Legel shot 7 of 9 from the field and made all four of her free throws en route to a game-high 22 points for the Argos (13-13, 3-9 Frontier), who shot 57 percent as a team.

The Blue Hawks’ struggles in league play continued as they shot just 26 of 71 (37 percent) from the field.

Sophomore Janae Moore led the way with 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Sophomore Jess Bygate had 13 points and senior Ashley Jelly added 12 points to lead DSU (6-17, 1-8 Frontier).

Lindsey Abrahamson had 15 points and 10 rebounds while Taylor Slatton scored 18 points for Great Falls, which got its second straight win following a nine-game losing skid.

The Argos were 28 of 32 from the free-throw line.

DSU was 4 of 23 from 3-point range.

The Blue Hawks visit Rocky Mountain College in a doubleheader that begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fortin Center in Billings, Mont.
