SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Parts of the Dakotas are in for a weekend winter storm.
South Dakota is expected to get the brunt of the winter blast moving out of the Rockies and into the Central Plains. The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard watch late Saturday through Sunday for portions of the southeast and east central parts of the state, and a winter storm watch in other areas.
Forecasters say some areas could see more than a foot of snow and winds gusting to 40 mph.
A winter storm watch also is posted for parts of south central and southeastern North Dakota, with strong winds and up to 8 inches of snow possible.
