(FNS) — With 2013 spring semester enrollment numbers in for Dickinson State University, the total number of students attending the school is down significantly.
Representing a 24 percent drop in those enrolled from the same time a year ago, DSU claimed 1,622 students four weeks into the current semester, according to information released by the university.
Women (993) DSU students outnumber their male (629) counterparts by nearly a third in the current semester. The school reported 125 international students for spring 2013.
School officials say a drop in numbers from fall 2012 to spring 2013 was expected, partly due to students graduating.
“Historically, spring enrollment at DSU has been lower than fall enrollment,” DSU spokesperson Marie Moe said. “After accounting for the 153 graduates who completed their course of study this past semester, enrollment remained relatively stable. I am encouraged by the spring enrollment numbers.”
