DHS girls fall short of Majettes

MINOT — After having its four game-win streak snapped Thursday by Bismarck High, the Minot High girls basketball team bounced back Saturday. The Majettes got out to a 14-1 lead on Dickinson High in the first half and kept rolling.

They had four players scored in double figures and Morgan Milbrath had 14 points, five rebounds and four steals to lead the Majettes to a 59-47 West Region victory over the Midgets, who had won its past two games.

“We battled back into it,” Dickinson head coach Dan Pender said.

Ali Moody had a big night for the Midgets (6-8, 4-7 West), scoring 21 points and grabbing 14 rebounds while shooting 11 of 15 from the free-throw line.

Dickinson, however, was just 13 of 44 (30 percent) from the field while Minot shot 21 of 43 (49 percent).

Sierra Duttenhefer had 13 points, six rebounds and five assits while Loni Bryantt scored 11 points and Andrea Hankla added 10 for Minot (7-7, 7-5 West), which led 37-28 at halftime.
