Lillian V. Wolf

Lillian V. Wolf, 87, formerly of Dickinson, died Monday, Feb. 12, in a Colorado Springs, Colo., hospital.

Lillian’s Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will take place in the spring at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a rosary and vigil service at 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Lillian Venita McLaughlin was born July 19, 1925, at Dodge, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Roseau) McLaughlin. She was the second youngest of a family of seven.

She spent her childhood on a rented farm near dodge. After her father found work with the highway department, the family moved to Dickinson before she began high school at Dickinson High School, where she graduated in 1943.

Lillian went on to attend Dickinson State Teachers College to pursue a teaching degree, paying for college by teaching in the one-room schoolhouses in the country surrounding Dickinson and Killdeer. Following graduation, she began a teaching career which included schools in Bismarck, Turtle Lake, Fallon, Mont., and finally Rock Lake.

While visiting relatives in the Killdeer area, she met her future husband, Leonard Wolf, whom she married in November of 1958. Afterwards, she became a homemaker to sons, Thomas born in 1961, and Howard born in 1963.

Leonard’s job took them to Killdeer, Wahpeton, Napoleon, Rolla and finally Fessenden, before retiring back to Dickinson. She continued teaching religion classes at the churches in those towns and was active in the Altar Societies, with her last parish being St. Patrick’s in Dickinson.

She also enjoyed cooking and sewing.

Lillian is survived by her husband, Leonard, Colorado Springs; two sons, Thomas, Colorado Springs, and Howard, Denver; and two siblings, Esther Fischer, Dickinson, and Charles McLaughlin, Golden, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters.

Arrangements are with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.
