Letter to the Editor: Input on Dickinson Bypass route

I believe Interstate 94 Exit 59 and existing roads northbound should be used, taking out the sharp curves and stop signs. Use lights or yield signs like I-94.

It’s hard for loaded trucks, even empty ones, to slow way down and get moving again.

Southbound from Exit 59 to 22 South should come out with a match-up plan for a later planned route on the east side of town with few sharp curves and stops.

Check out Bismarck’s, it could been better if planned sooner. As far as housing areas, I-94 goes through plenty of them.

There is a pretty good road already from Exit 59 North. It needs some stops and sharp turns removed. It could run one or three miles out to the new light already installed north of town.

Not everyone will be happy, no matter which route is used. The important fact is making it better for the truck drivers. We want to keep heavy traffic out of town to save our streets, which would keep a lot of people happy.

I would suggest calling trucking companies and get their ideas. They drive every day and know but have little time or don’t believe their ideas would matter (kind of like voting).

Some companies to call might be Dickinson Ready Mix; Berger Cattle Co.; Stockmen’s Livestock (many truckers); Nabors Well Servicing; Power Fuels; Pump Systems LLC; Red Top Recovery LLC; Patterson UTI Drilling Co.; Trotter Construction Inc.; MBI Energy Service; Baranko Bros. Inc.; Stallion Oil Field Ser.; Amerada Hess Corp.; Conoco Inc.; Continental Resources; Marathon Oil; Whiting Petroleum Corp.; and Wyoming Casing Ser.

Get input from people that drive or own semis that pull trailers or not, or their office managers.

Jim Huschka,

Dickinson
