Frances’ Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Visitation is Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., with a rosary and vigil service at 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Frances Schmidt was born May 13, 1922, on the family farm near Fallon in Morton County, the daughter of Matt and Eva (Lantz) Schmidt. She was raised and educated near Fallon.

She attended Christy’s Beauty School in Bismarck, graduating in 1941. Frances moved to Dickinson where she worked as a beautician throughout her life, and eventually owned her own shop, the Dickinson Beauty Salon, for many years.

Frances was united in marriage to Tony Mack on June 28, 1943, at Brownwood, Texas, and to this 69-year union nine children were born.

She loved to cook, sew and can produce.

She was a lifetime member of the St. Anne’s Altar Society, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and also belonged to the National Hairdressers Association.

Frances is survived by five sons and four daughters, Anthony (Donette) Mack, Santa Rosa, Calif., Dr. Terrance (Frances) Mack, Bismarck, Kenneth (Susan) Mack, Mandan, Patricia (Jim) Weinlaeder, Drayton, Keith (Nancy) Mack, Dickinson, Sarita (Richard) Turman, Bismarck, Kathy (Tom) Meszaros, Billings, Mont., Gilda Lubinski, Dickinson, and Robert (Barbara) Mack, Eugene, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Monica Schmidt and Delores Galas; brother, James (Sherry) Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Minnie Schmidt and Isabella Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Ben Soff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony, on Feb. 23, 2012; her parents; and six siblings and spouses, Edward (Leona) Schmidt, Victor Schmidt, Nick (Bertha) Schmidt, Ray Schmidt, Helen Soff, and Betty (Joe) Gustin.

Arrangements are with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.
