5 face charges for alleged prostitution purchase in Medora

Five individuals — all from outside North Dakota — have been charged in relation to a January incident involving an alleged prostitute in Medora.

John Bartek, 29, and David Hewitt, 24, both of Rock Springs, Wyo., along with Eric Boord, 36, of Castle Rock, Colo., Alfred Lupo, 60, of Evans, Colo., and Byron Hosey, 48, of Jackson, Miss., have been charged with criminal conspiracy to hire an individual to engage in sexual activity, according to a release from the Medora Police Department.

On Jan. 14, MPD — with assistance from the Billings County Sheriff’s Office and the North Dakota Highway Patrol — responded to a call at a residence on Doc Hubbard Drive in Medora at about 8 p.m.

The charge is listed as a Class B misdemeanor under the North Dakota Century Code. The MPD release states that a “complaint alleges that all agreed to hire another with the intention of engaging in sexual activity” and that a woman was allegedly “hired to come from Dickinson to Medora, where housing was provided by the company for whom they worked.”

When contacted last month by The Press, a representative with Ace Energy Services out of Greeley, Colo., would neither confirm nor deny that AES employees had been involved in the Jan. 14 incident. A message left for AES was not immediately returned Wednesday.

MPD Chief John Bey told The Press last month that the individual allegedly hired in the Medora incident is believed to be from Wisconsin, although no update was given on her whereabouts.

The investigation determined that her “name and contact information was located online,” according to the MPD release.
