Bismarck boys rally to beat West Fargo at state

BISMARCK — Bismarck fought off a second-half rally by West Fargo and pulled away down the stretch to beat the Packers 57-42 Thursday in the first round of the North Dakota boys Class A basketball tournament.

BISMARCK — Bismarck fought off a second-half rally by West Fargo and pulled away down the stretch to beat the Packers 57-42 Thursday in the first round of the North Dakota boys Class A basketball tournament.

Taylor Schafer led the way for the Demons (15-8) with 23 points. He made five of seven three-point shots and was perfect on four free throws. Schafer also had six rebounds, helping Bismarck to a 41-34 edge.

Troy Hausauer had 13 points and nine rebounds and Tyler Unruh added 13 points.

West Fargo (15-8) trailed 29-13 at the break but cut the deficit to seven in the second half.

The Packers were led by Brady Rotert with 13 points.
