Blue Hawk baseball team beats No. 16 Lubbock Christian

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Dickinson State baseball team wrapped up its spring break trip to the Tucson Invitational with its biggest victory of the week.

Bobby King pitched a complete game as Brock Murphy and Ryan Risse each drove in three runs to lead the Blue Hawks to a 13-6 victory over No. 16-ranked Lubbock (Texas) Christian on Friday in final game of the 10-game stay in Arizona.

Murphy was 2-for-3 with a triple and Risse was 2-for-3 with a double. King scattered 11 hits and struck out six for the win.

Eric Seiler, Carlos Lopez and Jonathon Mendoza all drove in runs for the Blue Hawks (11-7) while Jordan Tescher was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Mendoza went a combined 5-for-7 with six RBIs as the DSU split its games on Thursday.

The Blue Hawks trounced Dordt (Iowa) 8-2 before Grand View (Iowa) snapped DSU’s seven-game win streak, 9-8.

Zac Smit drove in the go-ahead run for Grand View on a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

Mendoza had three RBIs in the game while Tescher had a RBI double and scored two runs.

Seiler picked up the complete-game victory against Dordt while Matt Burwell suffered the loss in relief against Grand View.

DSU ended the trip with a 7-3 record.
