Fargo Davies boys throttle Century

BISMARCK — Tanner Kretchman scored 31 points to lead Fargo Davies to a 74-53 win over Bismarck Century during the third-place game of the Class A boys state basketball tournament on Saturday at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Andrew Kozlowski added 15 points for the Eagles (18-7).

Davies — only in its third season as a program — was making its first appearance at the state tournament.

The Eagles opened with a 14-3 run in the game’s first 5 minutes, 51 seconds and never trailed the Patriots the entire game.

Seniors Eric Peterson and David Olson each closed their prep careers scoring eight points for Davies.

Chad Bartosh scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Grand Forks Red River to a 66-55 win over Bismarck St. Mary’s in the fifth-place game at the Class A state boys basketball tournament on Saturday.

Red River senior’s Mac Kroeplin and John Hoplin each added 12 points for the Roughriders (22-3).

Darius Sparks scored 14 points to pace the Saints (20-4).
