Yes, Bob Christopherson won the NFR steer wrestling average in 1971 and 1975, however, he was a resident of Iowa at that time. He did not move to ND until 1989

I agree with Carol O. 100%. Being the sports writer for the press Mr. Monke should be well aware of what Shaun Stroh did and have the sense to make this accomplishment a front page story or suggest to someone higher up on the Press staff that this is front page material! Congrats Mr. Stroh, hope to follow your road to the NFR again next year!

Winning the average at the National Finals Rodeo by a Dickinson resident is a FRONT page story for the Dickinson Press. It is an amazing accomplishment. To ride nine out of ten of the some of the best saddle broncs in the sport of rodeo at the NFR is equivalent to being the most valuable player in any other professional sport league! It is a big deal. And Shaun tried them all. He didn't just hang on to win the average. Way to go Shaun!

Maybe you should check some records--I believe Bob Christofferson of Grassy Butte,ND, won the steer wrestling average at the NFR a couple of times, maybe even setting a record.
