WOW!! I laugh at the comment by board member Chris Fehr about a "WHITE ELEPHANT" The only WHITE ELEPHANT is the fact that Her and Dean Rummel can't accept the RESULTS from the VOTE in 1997.This community has spoken!!.Accept the Vote and move on to more important issues.OUR children's EDUCATION

WOW! Here we go again. It's sad to hear that all the school board has to discuss in there IMPORTANT meetings is the Midget mascot. You tried pulling this same BS fourteen years ago, what was the outcome? Rather than worrying about a mascot that a majority of the students, alumni, and faculty have loved since anyone can remember, worry about the real problems that are happening in the school system. If a mascot is all you have to worry about, I would say maybe the city of Dickinson should do something about there so called "school board" if you can call it that. ONCE A MIDGET AND ALWAYS A MIDGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am enjoying a good laugh.... People move on, please. There just has to be more important things for the school board to discuss... you think?? Maybe you should change the name to "Giants"..... then you will offend all of the "tall" people out there. Get a life all of you so called politically correct people, because apparently you have nothing else to do but "dwell" on what the beloved mascot name of "Midgets" could possibly mean! Some of you must not have anything more to do with your time than dwell on the "possibilities" of what the term "could" mean. Oh and by the way, "midget"... look up the meaning... It has several, but you being the school board would probably have checked that out already.

Wow! Jack S. you are not out in the community talking to people, Just with this last ice storm many of the people that came into our community said that this community has some of the friendliest people they have ever been around and they go all over the country. Ignorance is bred by people that only think one dimentional. I have and will always be a MIDGET!!! and I wear that with pride and honor. The small thinking of some people are the ones that tell us how we should think and feel regardless. The MIDGET name and mascot are used with pride for the people that take ownership in there school spirit. Leave the subject alone and move on to more pressing issues, the people have already decided and I like Nancy will be standing in the line to save the MIDGET name.

I am SO tired of the few politically correct wussies who pretend to be speaking for us all. That is all this is-people who lack spines trying to be politically correct. Yes "Midgets" isn't the most wonderful name but so what. It has been part of Dickinson for many years and a majority it's citizens don't have a problem with it-just the pc wussies. Does anyone remember that Dickinson was the butt of jokes NATIONALLY 14 years ago? Did we learn anything? Obviously some did not. Sounds like a few people don't have enough to do with their time. Join PETA or go hug a tree and shut up!

The community spoke and we decided this issue years ago.To even think we have time or that there are not other issues for Dean Rummel to find important is sad.We stood together then we will stand together now.If need be we can recall him also and get someone who will not bring back an issue that we all asumed to be dead.Nancy Henning

"Vertically Challenged"? I think I about peed when I read that....Midgets are fun and cute and like it when u pat them on the head....(see, I can sound just as rediculous as this non issue is...)

It's a slang term for a person with a disability. duh. the fact that it's even a discussion should be a big enough sign it should be changed. the times have changed since it was originated and so should the name.
