Just one more point to add about having the tournament at Trinity (unless I missed this point earlier) Every participating team gets an even cut of the profits, like gate and concessions. So, if you were an AD, wouldnt you want to play the tournament at a place that generates the largest profit? AnD also playing it at a site that is not owned by a Region 7 school, for example DSU, DHS, or Bismarck, then the region has to 'rent' the facility, and therefore lose more of the profits. It only makes sense to have it where the most money is made for each school, hands down. And that for the past how many years has been at Trinity.

i think it can be pu to rest too. i just hope the message got across that trinity isnt as bad as everyone thinks. after watching there student section and how wel behave and cheering for their team and for their team onlly. Also there is no reason trinity is catching so much heat for being a good program, there is alot of sweat, tears, energy and time put into building a good program and in ways it seems like trinity gets punished for that because they win. and a closing note, "trininty recruiting" can stop unless someone can name someone that has been recruited. thanks, and this was written with aldue respect to everyone.

Amen C.G - very well put. I think this whole thing should be put to rest. MAIN POINTS: 1) Awesome championship game. Either team would have represent our region very well. 2) The Miners out hustled the Titans and deserved the win. 3) These are high school students learning from this experience. 4) GOOD LUCK MINERS - bring home the hardware!!

As a former Trinity athlete (many years ago) this argument is something all of the these kids are used to. As an athlete for Trinity, these kids are accustomed to people cheering against them, finding reasons to lessen the meaning of a win, or gloating over a THS loss. Because of a fantastic coaching staff and school staff these kids become fantastic athletes and people, taught sportsmanship is key, and the golden rule (treat others as you would like to be treated). Everyone wants to make it to State in their sport, the Region is so strong, it is almost a mini state tournament, winning this region is huge. I am proud to say I played for Trinity but I can also say congratulations to the Miners, they proved they can play and will represent the region well, and to the THS boys....well played and you portrayed what good sportsmanship is.

Jean B, can you please tell me where beulah fans sat on the two nights they played? from the view through my eyes they were on the same side? did anyone complain about that? No, because that is not home court advantage!!! Also if its a big deal go rent trinitys gym(dont remember who said this sorry!) im sure they would take any money they can get. Because you know they reccruit! there fund for that might be running out!

thank you to the last 3 posts. it is nice to know that maybe just maybe there is some grounds being made that you know, trinity winning isnt that bad. Sure its nice to see other teams go but i think that people cheering for a team thats playing trinity harder then they cheer for theirs should come to a skreaching hault. It was a well played game and i wasnt rooting for the miners at all, but i will say you deserve it and best of luck, rep us well!

as far as why nobody gets to practice at trinity before tournaments like in the past this is a NDHSAA rule not trinitys rule. the NDHSAA passed this rule several yrs ago that teams are only allowed to practice at the state tournament site. however next year if you think you might be in regionals and would like to have a practice in regular season at trinity your school is allowed to rent the gym, it is just not allowable once post season starts by NDHSAA. Here are some other myths: Refs - I am sure this has been commented on but - the referrees are chosen by a vote of the district coaches as a closed door meeting the year prior, not chosen by the host school. Seating sections always the same - pretty sure Beulah sat on same side of gym that they always do when districts are held there. It is just easier to make it that way for all tournament managers. Recruiting - doesn't happen there. how many of the names you see for the titans are 3rd or 4th kid from same family Ernst, Smith, Klug, Morey, Peters, Ukestad, Glasser - This is what a program is it builds from with in. and many teams in the area have tried this as well in fact I am pretty sure the game winner for Beulah lives on a farm on the edge of Glen Ullin most of the year. Big School - 5th biggest in the region - could play class A in football but choose to play up to AA. By the way I am not a trinity alum or patron, our team is in their district and takes beatings from them on a regular basis, I just wish more of you would come on here and admit that you all wish your son or daughter could have the great sports experiences that the trinity players have had over the last 15 years. Maybe you should talk with your local schools about developing athletic programs that mirror Trinity's example as opposed to trashing the most successful program in the state that we are lucky enough to be watching. 20 years ago when trinity dropped from class A they were awful for about 4 years until Grinnsteinner took over and started a tradition with young kids, you all could have this just give your coaches a chance to build it.
