Dickinson resident Jessica Throlson turns away as United Blood Services technician Lisa Genter sticks a needle in her arm to give blood Monday at the St. Joseph’s Wellness Center in the Prairie Hills Mall. Throlson said while she thought it was going to painful, it “didn’t hurt a bit.” United Blood Services have partnered with local fire department and law enforcement as part of their third annual “Battle of the Badges” blood drive competition. Organizers say last year about 160 donors gave blood to support either law enforcement or fire departments. This year, they have set a goal of 200.
