Maria Ann “Marie” Schwartz, 93, Dickinson died Monday, May 25 at the Richardton Memorial Health Center.
Marie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Friday, May 29 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Jim Braaten as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue one hour prior to at the church on Friday. There will be rosary and vigil at 7:30 p.m., Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Bob Zent presiding.
Maria Ann Morel was born July 9, 1915 on the family farm west of Lefor, the daughter of Dominick and Kathirina (Krug) Morel. The family later moved to a farmstead two miles north of Gladstone. She attended rural school north of Gladstone.
On April 20, 1937, Marie married Nicholous “Nick” Schwartz in Gladstone. They farmed north of Hebron for over 25 years, retiring and moving to Dickinson in 1964. Her husband Nick died on May 17, 1996.
Marie enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, feeding and watching birds, fishing and spending time with relatives.
Marie is survived by three sisters, Betty Kubas and Margaret Anton, Dickinson, and Irene (C.A. “Felix”) Morel Childers, Miles City, Mont.; one brother, Frank J. (Regina) Morel, Gladstone; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five sisters, Eva Tormaschy, Anna Birgenheier, Katie Klemm Pudil, Barbara Sebastian, and Rose Pechtl; one infant sister, Regina Morel; and two brothers, Carl Morel and Joe Morel.
