Virginia Bell West Krogh was born Nov. 3, 1926, at Mott, to Floyd and Bea (Evans) West. Virginia enjoyed growing up on the farm and helping her father with all the animals and her mother with the gardening and canning. She developed a love of fishing and horses from her paternal grandfather Frank West.

Virginia attended Chandler School and graduated from Hettinger High School. She played clarinet in the Rough Riders Marching Band. She attended Dickinson State College on a music scholarship where she sang with the chorus as well as accompanied the glee club while she earned her elementary education degree. She taught elementary school for three years.

On June 28, 1948 Virginia married Clarence M. Krogh at Mott Methodist Church. Virginia was a devoted farm wife and mother and an active church and community member. She taught Sunday School for several years and served as the church secretary. Virginia participated and hosted the Alden Township Homemakers Club.

Her friends, neighbors and family all benefitted from Virginia’s generosity, kindness, and hospitality. Every visitor was welcomed with delicious home baked breads, bars, cookies, pies and cakes. Virginia was most proud of her family. Her love for children included opening their home to other children such as the Friendly Town program in the summer months. Virginia’s love of lifelong learning and music were passed on to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors are her six children, Connie (Joseph) Marshall, Dianne (Gregory) Scott, Kelly Krogh, Sheryl Krogh (Eldon Lippert), Ken Krogh (Rhonda Kolar), and Gwen (Richard) Zent; her grandchildren, Ryan (Heather) Scott, Kelly (Jeffrey Hepker) Scott, Steven Scott, David Scott, Neil (Jaime) Scott, Courtney (Andrew Krogman), Luke Krogh, Kyle Krogh, Kyle Krogh, Tyler Krogh, Rex Krogh, Katie Krogh, Margeaux Wirt, Gabrielle West, Alixandra Wirt, Lauren Zent and Caitlin Marshall; her great-grandchildren, Skye Krogh, Skout Krogh and Benjamin Scott; and her brother Maurice (Phyllis) West.

Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lives have been richly blessed from her presence, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence, and one sister, Dorthy in infancy.

A memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.evansonjensenfuneralhome.com.
