Shonéa Marsia Gant

Shonéa Marsia Gant, 28, Dickinson, died Thursday, Feb. 4, at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Funeral services for Shonéa will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Pastor Tim Privratsky officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday with the family present to greet friends at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Shonéa was born May 31, 1981, at Wahiawa, Hawaii, the daughter of Michael R. and Brenda Kay (Weed) Gant. While her dad was in the military the family relocated several times and Shonéa attended military schools. In 1998, the Gants moved to Belfield and she graduated from Belfield High School in 1999. Shonéa moved to Georgia to stay with her brother while he served in the military. She returned to North Dakota and settled in Dickinson, where she had spent the rest of her life.

Shonéa loved being an aunt and spending time helping take care of her nieces and nephews, which was very special to her. She loved the companionship of her dog, Kanishka. Family was important to Shonéa, spending time at the lake, going for walks, and even though she didn’t like sports, she was a true sports fan when it came to her brothers participating. Shonéa loved being around her family and friends, laughing and joking, and she will truly be missed.

Shonéa is survived by her parents, Michael and Brenda Gant, Dickinson; her grandparents, Helen and Robert Weed, Devils Lake; three brothers: Anterious (Felice) Gant, Ogden, Utah; Demetrius (fiancee-Robyn Gullickson) Gant, New England; and Dakota (fiancee-Tristae Kuhn) Gant, Dickinson; her special friend Ray Frederic, Dickinson; and her nieces and nephews: Michael Eback, Mason Kostecki, Kiara Gant, Avian “Squish” Gullickson-Gant, Jullian “JuJu” Gant and Mya “Baby Girl” Gant. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rufus Lester Gant and Annie Lee Gant; brother, Michael Gant, II; sister, Octavia Gant; and a niece Nevaeh L. Gant. Arrangements are with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, www.ladburyfuneralservice.com.
