Frank Fisher

Frank Fisher, 101, of San Marcos, Calif., formerly of Dickinson, passed away on Feb. 20 in California.

Frank was born 101 years ago in the farming town of Dickinson to Frank and Anna (Frank) Fisher. His parents immigrated from Russia to the U.S., as generations of other Germans had done before them.

He knew at an early age he liked carpentry work better than farming. When his dad needed a hammer he would look for Frank first. As a young man he got a job in town making coffins. Later, he met the love of his life, Sally, at a dance in town. They married Oct. 12, 1933, and celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary last year.

They have had a wonderful marriage and were great role models for their two daughters Jeannette and Vivian. In 1937, he and Sally moved to Yakima, Wash., where he built his first home. In the 1940s they moved to the Los Angeles area and then to Orange County, Calif., where he built many homes.

Frank is survived by his wife, Sally, San Marcos, Calif., daughters, Jeannette Calderone, Sacramento, Calif.; and Vivian Brice, Carlsbad, Calif.; four grandchildren: Thomas Brice, David Brice, Janet Brice and Kristin Salazar; eight grandchildren; brother-in-law Frank Burgad, California; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Joe, Jacob, Nick, Mike and Melchoir; and sisters: Sister Edwolda Fisher, Sister Harlindes Fisher and Sister Clementia Fisher, Clemie Renneberg, Barbara Jaeger, Ann Burgad and Ann Fisher. Frank was the youngest of 13 siblings.

Franks quiet strength led the family in the Christian way of life. His generosity touched many people. He brought joy to all those he met with his great sense of humor was greatly loved and will be missed.
