Mike was born March 31, 1921, to Jerome and Leokatia (Zent) Greff in Mott, where he was raised and attended rural school. On May 4, 1942, he married Veronica Senn at St. Placidus Catholic Church northeast of Mott. In 1954, Mike and Veronica moved to a farm in the St. Joe area, southeast of Glen Ullin. In the fall of 1959, they moved into Glen Ullin where Mike worked in construction prior to starting Greff Sanitation in 1968. He retired in 1984. Mike and Veronica moved to Mandan in 2003.

Mike loved to garden and it showed in the produce that he willingly shared with family and friends. He liked to cook and his family loved his specialties, potato salad and marinated turkey. Faith was very important to Mike. He served as a Eucharistic minister and found time for daily prayer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and delivered meals on wheels to many residents of Glen Ullin. Mike gave to his community when they needed him. When there was something that needed fixing or a lawn that needed mowing he was the man to call. A wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather, we will miss the games of pinochle and treasure our memories of the stories he loved to share.

Left with fond memories are three daughters: Phyllis (Bill) Glaser, Mandan; Germaine Jensen, (special friend Gil Schrup), Mound, Minn.; and Patricia (Matt) Steckler, Bismarck; seven sons: Joseph (Judy), Mandan; Duane (Margie), Dennis (Marilyn), and Craig (Mary), all of Bismarck; Robert (Sandy), Midland, Mich.; Alvin (Bernadette), East Carbon, Utah; and Perry (Annette), Glen Ullin; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Frances (Joe) Roth, Florence Frank, and Mary Senn, all of Dickinson; Maggie Kranze, South Heart; and sister-in-law Pauline Greff, Dickinson.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica, in 2008; his parents; son, Eugene; two infant children; one grandson, Kevin Greff; one great-grandson, Gunner Greff; two sisters, Eugenia and Margaret; two brothers, Joseph and Simon; and one son-in-law, Dan Jensen
