Inez passed away at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mott on Wednesday, Aug. 25 surrounded by her seven children and her loving husband of 58 years.

Inez Dorothy Bergenheier was born on July 8, 1932 to Frank and Helen Gallagher Bergenheier on the farm south of Richardton. She attended country school and St. Mary’s School in Richardton.

On Nov. 6, 1951 she married Leonard Friedt at St. Mary’s Church in Richardton. They lived 14 miles north of Mott on the original Friedt family homestead where they raised their children.

Inez was actively involved in farming as she worked side by side with Leonard. She enjoyed animals and gardening, especially her flowers. She always had time to listen and give good advice to her kids. Inez loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She especially loved to cook and bake for them. Their favorites were always in the deep freeze waiting for them when they came to visit.

Inez was involved in St. Placidus Church Christian Mothers and was a member of St. Veronica Circle at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church.

Leonard and Inez retired and moved into Mott in July of 1997. She continued to garden and do embroidery until she entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in April 2006. Inez was blessed with a long and happy life.

Grateful for sharing her life was her husband, Leonard, of Mott; children, Kathy (Ray) Fries, of Mandan, Shirley Kubas, Dickinson, Sandy (John) Bubbers, Morristown, S.D., Larry (Brenda) Friedt, New Leipzig, Terry (Diane) Friedt, Mandan, Garry (Shelley) Friedt, Cavalier and Cindy (Scott) Bice, Killdeer; 23 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Frank (Ann) Bergenheier, Dickinson; sisters, Helen Bleth, Taylor, and Agnes (Lester) Vogele, Billings, Mont.; and very special friends, Pat and Bill J.
